Carina is a suburb in the city of Brisbane, in Queensland Australia, just 7 kilometres from the Brisbane Central Business District (CBD). Carina is bounded by Richmond Road, Creek Road and the Minnippi Parklands in the north, Wood Avenue, Fursden Road, Bulimba Creek and Meadowlands Road in the east, Creek Road and Old Cleveland Road in the south, and Kennington Road, Coke Street, Brisbane Avenue, Mantilla Street, Melbourne Avenue, Nurstead Street, D’Arcy Road and Molloy Road in the west. This small area includes part of the suburb of Seven Hills.
Settlement of the area dates from the 1850s, with land used mainly for timber-getting and farming. Growth took place in the 1880s, and again in the early 1900s. However, the area remained largely rural until the post-war years. Rapid growth took place during the 1950s and 1960s, aided by public housing construction. The population has increased since the early 1990s, a result of new dwellings being added to the area.
Major features of the area include Seven Hills Bushland Reserve, Brisbane High School Sports Complex, Belmont Reserve Park, Clem Jones Centre, Joe Bradfield Centre, Porters Paddock and a number of schools.
